University policies are divided into 5 volumes:
The University Policy on Developing Policy and Procedure states that:
"The University of Minnesota community will have ready access to well articulated and understandable University policies and related procedures. University policies and procedures will be:
- presented in a common format
- formally approved
- maintained centrally and accessible to all interested parties
- kept current within the framework of an organized system of change control
- distributed to all relevant operating units in a timely manner."
