PROCEDUREResearch AlcoholDetermine that the purchase will further the mission of the University. If the Alcohol is to be used for research purposes (absolute Alcohol) contact Purchasing Services (624-2828).
Serving Alcohol at a University Sponsored EventDetermine that the purchase will further the mission of the University. If alcohol is to be served at a University sponsored event, be sure that it can be paid for from the source of funds to be used. (See the Expense Allowability Chart.)
Getting Approval to Serve AlcoholPursuant to the Regents policy on Alcoholic Beverages on Campus, alcohol cannot be served on campus without approval from the Office of Risk Management and Insurance. Alcohol served off-campus or at the Campus Club does not require prior approval.At least 15 days prior to the event, submit Form UM 23, Application to Serve Alcohol at an On-Campus Event to the Office of Risk Management and Insurance. This form includes the Acknowledgement of Laws and University Standards Related to Serving Alcohol and supporting Instructions.
Paying for Alcohol at a University EventThe payment of alcohol expenses should be correctly coded to comply with federal A-21 requirements as explained in procedure 3.16.2.1, Documenting Hospitality and Special Expenses."Unallowable" expenditures include (applicable object code in parenthesis):
