Departmental Vehicle | Rent/Lease | Personal Vehicle
You are going to rent or lease a vehicle.

Who is eligible to drive

  • University of Minnesota Faculty or Staff
  • Students at least 19 years old
  • Visiting faculty
  • Staff under the supervision or direction of a University responsible authority.

Authorized drivers must have a valid U.S. or Canadian drivers' license.
A class A or B license is required if the vehicle is a large truck or designed to carry more than 15 passengers.

Will you rent or lease from University Fleet Services?
If so then view the renting/leasing process.

Or will you rent or lease from an outside vendor?

  • Departments may rent vehicles from outside sources through the Big Ten Contract; through National Interrent if travel is outside the local area, or through a Fleet Services overflow contract with local vendors. You must use the ID #5004462 at the time you make your reservation to utilize the Big Ten Contract.
  • These contracts include lower rates, full insurance coverage and lower insurance deductibles.
